Puri: After issuing strict no-movement orders for public in and around area of Puri Srimandir during Snana Purnima ritual of Lord Jagannath, the State police on Thursday informed that a huge blanket of security will cover the pilgrim town during the festival commencing late tonight.

Addressing a presser, Central Range DIG, Asish Singh informed that a total of 38 platoons of police force will be in place in Puri during the grand bathing festival of the Holy Trinity.

Police force have been deployed at 7 points. 2 Commandant rank officers, 6 ASP, 16 DSP, 44 inspectors will be placed on duty to ensure that the Snana Purnima ritual is completed in a hassle free manner and without any untoward occurrences.

Police cover will be ensured all throughout the time till the completion of the ritual so, duties for cops have been fixed at 4 shifts a day. Steps will be taken to ensure that people abide by the prohibitory orders and do not venture out to the shrine during the event.

Apart from CCTVs, 20 special cameras will be installed near the areas of the Snana Mandap (bathing altar) for videography and better monitoring of the situation.

Adequate barricades have been set up as per the plan at strategic points to full proof the security. Designated servitors, officials issued passes will only entry into the shrine and the bathing altar during the Snana Purnima occasion. Police will work as per the requirements of the temple administration.

"We will ensure that while enforcing the prohibitory orders, essential services and those in need of emergency are not prohibited in any manner," said Central Range DIG, Asish Singh.
