Bhubaneswar: The Department of Health and Family Welfare in Odisha on Saturday sought fact-finding report from the district authorities of Sonepur and Ganjam following deaths of two inmates inside Covid quarantine centres in the respective districts.

State Health Minister Naba Das said, "We have to fight against Coronavirus and not those who are suffering from Covid. This way will help us save our near and dear ones and also ensure that those who are suffering are also not discriminated,"

"The district authorities have been asked to submit detailed report on the death of the two people in quarantine centres at different places of Odisha. Once we get the reports, the government will take necessary action," Das told OTV.

It may be noted thart a 40-year-old migrant worker was on Friday found dead in a quarantine centre in Ganjam district where he was lodged after returning from Surat area of Gujarat.

The deceased was kept at the quarantine centre set up at Dhunkapada high school in Polasara block since Tuesday after he arrived from Surat in a train, Ganjam Superintendent of Police Brijesh Kumar Rai said.

Similarly, a 21-year-old youth of lodged at Singhiguda Covid centre under Binika police limits of Sonepur district was found dead while he had gone to attend nature's call . Initial reports claimed his death happened due to heart attack.
