A fresh controversy has erupted inside the Jagannath Temple (Srimandir) in Puri, after temple officials seized dalda ghee that was allegedly not authorised for use in temple rituals. The items were reportedly found during a routine inspection inside the temple kitchen premises, known as the Rosaghara, where offerings for the deities are prepared.
Who Is Under Scrutiny
According to reports, a Mahasuar servitor has been questioned regarding the source and use of the seized items. Authorities suspect that non-prescribed ghee may have been brought in, violating the temple’s strict guidelines on ingredients approved for rituals.

Why It Matters
The Srimandir follows centuries-old traditions, where even minor deviations in the preparation of offerings are treated seriously. The administration’s swift action underscores its commitment to preserving the purity and sanctity of temple rituals.
The incident serves as a reminder of the strict discipline governing Srimandir’s daily rituals where devotion, tradition, and purity remain inseparable pillars of Lord Jagannath’s service.
