Cyclonic circulation over Bay of Bengal around Oct 10; MeT issues fresh warnings

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted the development of a cyclonic circulation over the north Bay of Bengal around October 10, which could bring light to moderate rainfall to several parts of Odisha.

The Bhubaneswar Regional Meteorological Centre has stated that the system is expected to gradually intensify, affecting weather conditions across the state in the coming days.

According to the latest MeT bulletin, Odisha is likely to witness widespread light to moderate showers between October 10 and 11.

The IMD has issued a series of yellow warnings for several districts in Odisha over the next four days, indicating the likelihood of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds.

Thunderstorms with lightning accompanied by gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph are expected at one or two places in districts including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Koraput, Malkangiri, Kandhamal, and Boudh.Weather Alert For October 10

Yellow warning has been issued for heavy rain and thunderstorms with lightning in Balasore, Bhadrak, and Kendrapara, along with gusty winds of 30-40 kmph. Other districts including Jajpur, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri are also expected to experience thunderstorms with similar conditions.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms with gusty winds are likely at one or two places in Ganjam and Gajapati while other districts across northern, western, and southern Odisha will experience thunderstorms with lightning and winds of 30-40 kmph.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms with gusty winds are expected in Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri, with other districts including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Nawarangpur likely to experience thunderstorms with similar conditions.

Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel, and stay updated with weather advisories as the state braces for widespread rainfall and thunderstorms.
