A cyclonic circulation active over Odisha is expected to bring rainfall across the state on Sunday and Monday. The weather system, extending up to 1.5 kilometres above sea level, is likely to trigger light to moderate rainfall in several parts of the state during this period, the Meteorological Centre said.
According to the forecast, the weather is expected to remain cloudy across most areas as the cyclonic system continues to influence atmospheric conditions.
Possibility of Hailstorms and Gusty Winds
The Meteorological Centre has also warned of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning in some places. In addition, hailstorms may occur in isolated areas, while gusty winds with speeds of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour are likely during thunderstorm activity.
Such conditions may cause temporary disruption in normal activities in several districts.
"On March 9, light to moderate rainfall is likely in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore and Bhadrak districts, for which a Yellow Warning has been issued. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are expected at isolated places, while gusty winds with speeds of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour may also occur in these areas," said Sanjeev Dwivedi, Meteorologist.
Yellow Warning for 23 Districts
In view of the changing weather conditions, the Meteorological Centre has issued a Yellow warning for 23 districts of Odisha for tomorrow. The warning covers districts across coastal, northern, western and central parts of the state.
Authorities have advised people to remain cautious during thunderstorms and gusty winds.
With the cyclonic circulation expected to remain active until Monday, residents across the state are likely to experience cloudy skies and intermittent rainfall over the next two days.
