Cyclone Montha has deepened the misery of farmers in the Dharakote block of Ganjam district, damaging their year-long hard work. Three days of relentless rain and gusty winds have inundated acres of farmland, turning once lush green fields into muddy wastelands.

As the farmers returned to their fields with heavy hearts, trying to salvage whatever little they could from their rain-battered crops. With the help of a few labourers, they struggle to collect the remaining grains, hoping to save at least a fraction of their lost yield. 

One of the farmers expressed his grief, saying, “Most of our paddy crop has been destroyed by the heavy rain. We’re trying to salvage whatever little remains from the damaged fields. What else can we do? We just hope the government supports us in this difficult time.”

“Around three acres of my farmland are submerged in water. With the help of a few labourers, we’re wading through the water, trying to collect whatever little we can before it all rots. We urge the government to come to our aid.”

Cyclone Montha has ruined the livelihoods of farmers in Dharakote, Ganjam, leaving behind flooded fields, damaged crops, and a community struggling to rebuild their lives.
