Cyclist killed in SUV hit-and-run accident in Cuttack

A tragic road accident was reported from Godisahi area under Barang police station limits in Cuttack district, where a cyclist was killed after being hit by a speeding Scorpio vehicle.

The incident occurred near the Puri Main Canal bridge at Godisahi Bazaar. According to reports, the victim, identified as Raj Kishore Rout of Godisahi Barsingh village, was returning home on his bicycle when a Scorpio, coming at high speed from the Banki side, rammed into him head-on.

Following the collision, the Scorpio driver lost control of the vehicle, which plunged into the canal. The driver, however, fled the scene immediately after the accident, leaving the vehicle behind.

Police reached the spot soon after being informed, seized the Scorpio, and launched an investigation into the incident. The body of the deceased cyclist was sent for post-mortem examination. Further investigation is underway to trace the absconding driver and ascertain the circumstances leading to the accident.
