Cuttack situation returning to normal, informs District Collector

The District Collector on Sunday informed that the situation in Cuttack is returning to normal. He mentioned that the internet suspension was imposed as a precautionary measure after reviewing the situation.

“What happened today is unfortunate. We appeal to everyone to maintain peace. Strict action will be taken against those responsible for creating unrest," said Collector Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde.

"Things have become normal now. The things that occurred were unfortunate. Some police personnel have been injured today. Stern action will be taken against the persons who are involved in such acts. The Chief Minister has urged one and all to keep peace and discipline in Cuttack which is known as the city of brotherhood. Director General of Police (DGP) and the Police Commissioner are present here and they are taking stock of the situation," he said.

 "Additional police forces have arrived. Checking and patrolling at various places have been intensified. We had requested the Home Department to stop internet services for 24 hours which has already been implemented. If required, internet services could be stopped for some more time. Cuttack is a city of brotherhood and people live in peace and cooperation here. Police have handled the situation strictly and very much efficiently that occurred for the last couple of days due to few people. Arrests have also been made. Those who are involved in the untoward incident that occurred today will also be arrested," he added.

Meanwhile, the Director General of Police (DGP) and the Police Commissioner have already arrived in Cuttack to assess the situation.
