Cuttack DCP inspects Choudwar Jail, makes security review Photograph: (OTV)
The Cuttack Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Rishikesh Khilari, conducted an inspection of Choudwar Jail on Saturday. He was accompanied by Additional Superintendent of Police Minakshi Thakur and District Judge Manas Ranjan Barik.
As per reports, the officials jointly inspected various sections inside the jail and reviewed the overall functioning before leaving the premises.
During the visit, special emphasis was laid on assessing the jail’s administrative management and security arrangements. The inspection was aimed at evaluating whether adequate measures are in place to ensure the safety, discipline, and smooth operation of the prison.

Choudwar Jail has frequently remained in the public spotlight due to a series of incidents in the past. Owing to the lack of stringent security measures inside the prison, two inmates managed to escape by scaling the jail boundary wall around three months ago.
Such incidents have raised serious concerns regarding the effectiveness of the existing security system.
Furthermore, some incidents of inmates allegedly committing suicide inside the jail have also been reported in the past. These occurrences have further intensified questions and criticism surrounding the overall security and supervision mechanisms of Choudwar Jail.
