Following the recent violence in Cuttack, the Commissionerate Police has registered three cases in connection with the incident, informed Police Commissioner . Dev Datta Singh on Monday.
According to sources, arrests have already begun, though the authorities have not disclosed the exact number of people taken into custody.
On the other hand, ADG Law and Order Sanjay Kumar stated that those involved in the unrest have been identified through CCTV footage across the city, and strict legal action will be taken against them. As many as 50 police platoons have been deployed to maintain law and order in Cuttack.
Authorities have also issued curfew guidelines for citizens to ensure safety during the ongoing restrictions:
What To Do During Curfew:
- Stay safe at home and avoid unnecessary travel
- Step out only in case of emergencies
- Follow the instructions issued by the police
- Keep essential supplies ready at home
- Cooperate with police personnel
What Not To Do:
- Do not step out unnecessarily
- Avoid believing or spreading rumours
- Do not gather in groups at any location
- Do not take the law into your own hands
Police have urged residents to follow these instructions strictly, maintain calm, and allow authorities to restore normalcy in the city.
Notably, a 36-hour curfew, which was imposed at 10 pm on Sunday, remains in force in Cuttack, while internet services remain suspended till 7 pm tonight.
