A major crackdown on suspected Bangladeshi infiltrators continued on Thursday as Jagatsinghpur police raided the residence of Sikandar Alam, the prime accused in allegedly providing rented accommodation to Bangladeshi nationals. The search operation was carried out at his house in the Dhani Pur slum area under heavy security deployment.

Two platoons of force, along with the Additional SP and SDPO, were mobilised to conduct the raid, which forms part of the statewide operation directed by the Odisha Government to identify and act against illegal migrants.

Crackdown Continues Across Odisha

This comes amid intensified action across several districts including Bhadrak, Kendrapara, and Keonjhar. Earlier, Jagatsinghpur police had demolished a suspected hideout in Beherampur and arrested four individuals believed to be Bangladeshi infiltrators.

In Bhadrak, 17 suspected youths were detained after days of surveillance, while Keonjhar observed a 12-hour shutdown to facilitate smooth police movement.

Coordinated Raids And Arrests To Continue

State Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan reiterated that strict measures would continue until all illegal infiltrators are identified and deported. “The process has begun, and necessary action will be taken to remove every suspected intruder from the state,” he had said.

Officials confirmed that coordinated raids and arrests will continue across Odisha as part of the ongoing crackdown.
