Bhubaneswar: After recording highest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases, Odisha on Monday saw 119 persons recuperating from coronavirus infection, taking the total recoveries to 1245.

As per Health and Family Welfare Department, a highest of 60 persons recovered from Jajpur district, 13 from Cuttack, 12 from Kendrapara, nine from Gajapati, six from Nayagarh, five from Sundergarh, three each from Balasore, Puri and Khurda, two each from Ganjam and Bolangir and one from Sambalpur.

Earlier, as many as 156 novel coronavirus cases were detected in Odisha in the last 24 hours. This is the highest single-day spike reported from Odisha till date. The COVID-19 count in Odisha has reached 2104.

Out of the total 156 new COVID-19 cases detected today, Kendrapara reported the highest 50 cases while Cuttack reported 20 cases followed by Ganjam 17, Jagatsinghpur 14, Jajpur 11, Kandhamal 9 and Bhadrak 7 cases.

Similarly, three each cases were detected from Khurda, Nayagarh, Sundergarh, Nuapada, Mayurbhanj, Bargarh and Sonepur districts, two cases each from Bolangir, Sambalpur and one case each from Boudh, Keonjhar and Malkangiri districts.

Meanwhile, a total of 3559 RT-PCR tests were conducted in the State the last 24 hours in Odisha taking the State’s cumulative to 155690.
