Court proceedings return to normal after bomb threat ‘hoax emails’ in Odisha

Court proceedings across several districts in Odisha returned to normal on Thursday after a temporary disruption caused by bomb threat emails sent to multiple district courts. The district courts of Cuttack, Sambalpur, and Deogarh resumed regular functioning following extensive security checks conducted by law enforcement agencies.

Bomb Threat In 3 Courts

According to official sources, the district courts in the three locations received threatening emails earlier in the day, warning of bomb explosions within the court premises. The emails immediately triggered panic and prompted authorities to place the court complexes under high alert. As a precautionary measure, court activities were suspended, and people present inside the premises were asked to vacate.

Following the threats, anti-bomb squads, dog squads, and police teams were rushed to the court premises. Security personnel conducted thorough inspections of courtrooms, corridors, offices, and surrounding areas to rule out any potential danger. After hours of intensive searches, no suspicious objects or explosive materials were found at any of the locations.

Threats Turn Out To Be Hoaxes

After security agencies confirmed that the threats were hoaxes, court authorities allowed judicial work to resume. Lawyers, litigants, and court staff returned to their duties, and normal court proceedings were restored later in the day.

Senior police officials stated that investigations have been initiated to trace the source of the emails used to issue the bomb threats. Meanwhile, security arrangements around courts across the state have been tightened as a precautionary step.
