The order was issued following a petition filed by a Silvassa-based private firm seeking payment of its pending dues. Acting on the plea, the court directed that the attachment and seizure process be completed by March 10.

Earlier, on February 18, high drama reportedly unfolded at the office premises during an attempt to execute the attachment order. Officials allegedly locked the office to prevent the seizure proceedings. Reports suggest that employees put locks on the premises and remained absent in an effort to avoid the attachment of assets.

In its latest directive, the court has instructed the concerned authorities to proceed with the confiscation of office equipment and assets to realize the outstanding amount of Rs 9.44 crore. The development has triggered administrative concern, as the attachment of assets from a key government office is considered an unusual step in recovery proceedings.
