A case has been registered at Tangi police station in Cuttack district after a woman alleged that she and her husband were threatened at gunpoint late at night by a neighbour and his associates, following some past enmity.
Police have launched an investigation and conducted a spot verification at the complainant’s residence.
Sources reported that the complaint was lodged by Tiki Ojha, a resident of Badhei Sahi under Tangi police limits. According to the complaint, the incident occurred late on Friday night when Ojha and her husband heard loud banging on the gate of their house and stepped outside to check.
Alleged Threat at Gunpoint
Ojha alleged that a youth identified as Dablu Maharna, a neighbour, arrived at the gate along with several others and began arguing aggressively. She claimed Maharna displayed a firearm and threatened them, allegedly warning of fatal consequences.
In her statement to police, Ojha said the accused was accompanied by four to six associates who joined in the confrontation. She alleged that her husband was chased inside the house, while she ran in the opposite direction to escape.
“We were standing by the door and conversing when Dablu Maharna suddenly threatened to kill us and rushed to attack. About four to six more people accompanied him. They chased my husband inside the house while I fled in the opposite direction,” Ojha stated in her complaint.
Allegations of Vandalism and Abuse
The complainant further alleged that during the incident, the accused hurled verbal abuse and directed others to catch her. She claimed that several household items were vandalised while the group continued searching for her before leaving the spot.
“They vandalised several items and stayed in search of me,” she said, alleging that the act was intended to intimidate her family due to prior hostility.
