Container truck catches fire on NH-16 in Odisha’s Chhatrapur, short circuit suspected

A major fire broke out on NH-16 in Chhatrapur in Odisha’s Ganjam district, where a container truck was engulfed by flames completely on the road.

The container truck, travelling from Cuttack towards Kanisi late Thursday night, suddenly caught fire, causing panic among nearby commuters. The incident occurred near a Titanium company in Chhatrapur.

According to preliminary reports, it is being suspected that the accident occurred due to a short circuit. Eyewitnesses reported that the container truck burnt within minutes, resulting in thick smoke spreading across the highway. However, the driver managed to escape the scene, avoiding possible injuries.  
On being informed, the Chhatrapur Fire Services Department rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident. However, the container truck was completely gutted in the blaze. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire, said sources.
