Cold conditions continue to grip Odisha as a biting cold wave sweeps across all regions of the state. Plunging temperatures have disrupted normal life, making it difficult for people to step out of their homes during early morning hours.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the cold wave is likely to persist across Odisha, with dry weather prevailing over the next week. As there is no indication of any significant rise in temperatures, the state is expected to witness cold nights and chilly mornings in the coming days.

Temperature Drops to 5.7 deg C

Temperatures have dipped sharply below 10 degree Celsius in several parts of the state, underlining the severity of the cold spell. Semiliguda in Koraput district recorded the lowest minimum temperature in Odisha at 5.7 deg C. Koraput town followed closely at 6 deg C, while G. Udayagiri recorded 6.6 deg C.

Jharsuguda reported a minimum temperature of 7.2 deg C, while Daringbadi, often referred to as the 'Kashmir of Odisha', recorded 8 deg C. Boudh logged a minimum temperature of 9.4 deg C.

Several other areas also experienced near-freezing conditions, with minimum temperatures hovering around 10 deg C, including Chiplima, Angul, Rayagada, and Nabarangpur.

The prolonged cold spell has heightened concerns, particularly for the elderly and children, with authorities advising people to take adequate precautions. Meanwhile, the IMD continues to monitor the situation as the cold wave shows no immediate signs of easing across the state.
