While the intensity of winter cold has slightly declined across Odisha, dense fog has emerged as a major concern, affecting daily life in many parts of the state. Since early morning hours, a thick blanket of fog has covered several regions, significantly reducing visibility and causing inconvenience to commuters, especially on highways and rural roads.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that dense to very dense fog conditions are likely to persist across the state till the 7th of this month. Northern and interior districts of Odisha are expected to witness more intense fog conditions during this period.
For today, the weather department has forecast very dense fog in Khordha, Puri, Cuttack and Nayagarh districts. In view of the adverse weather conditions, an Orange Warning has been issued for these four districts, advising people to remain cautious, particularly during early morning and late-night hours.
Meteorologists have also indicated that cloud cover has increased over several districts, which is likely to push up night temperatures gradually over the coming days. However, despite the slight rise in minimum temperatures, foggy conditions are expected to continue, impacting visibility and routine activities.

The IMD has further stated that no significant change in overall weather conditions is expected over the next five days. Authorities have urged commuters to follow traffic advisories, use fog lights where necessary, and avoid unnecessary travel during hours of poor visibility.
