Cold wave grips Odisha, Semiliguda coldest at 5.2°C; IMD predicts no change in conditions till December 22

Cold conditions continue to prevail across Odisha, tightening their grip on almost all regions of the state. From Koraput to Cuttack, Bhawanipatna to Bhadrak, and Balasore to Berhampur, the chill has intensified, making early mornings particularly harsh for residents as numbness in hands and feet becomes common.

The biting cold wave has strengthened further, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting dry weather across the state over the next week.

No Major Temperature Change Till December 22

According to the Meteorological Department, Odisha is likely to continue experiencing severe cold conditions in the coming days, with chilly mornings and cold nights expected to persist. No major change in average temperatures is anticipated across most parts of the state until December 22, and residents have been advised to remain prepared for the ongoing winter chill.

The IMD has also warned that dense fog may occur at a few locations, while minimum temperatures could drop by up to 2 degrees Celsius in some areas.

Odisha Records Low Temperatures

In the past 24 hours, Semiliguda recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the state at 5.2 degrees Celsius. Koraput followed closely at 6.5 degrees Celsius, while Daringbadi registered 7 degrees Celsius and Phulbani 7.6 degrees Celsius.

G. Udayagiri, which had earlier reported a minimum temperature of 3.1 degrees Celsius, witnessed a rise to 7.6 degrees Celsius. Nabarangpur recorded 8.8 degrees Celsius, while Chiplima and Angul reported minimum temperatures of 9 degrees Celsius each.

With cold conditions expected to persist, residents have been urged to take necessary health precautions and protect themselves against the harsh winter weather.
