The national-level workshop, ‘Cohort Connect,’ is set to commence in Bhubaneswar tomorrow. The two-day event will be held at CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (IMMT) and will bring together leading scientists, researchers, and policymakers to deliberate on the future of digital health and personalised medicine in India.

Organised under the aegis of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), the workshop aims to strengthen the country’s efforts in developing a robust digital healthcare ecosystem. The event will be graced by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, Dr Jitendra Singh, who will address key sessions on innovation and technological integration in healthcare.

CSIR officials informed that the organisation has already initiated research to develop personalised medicine tailored to individual health profiles, keeping in view the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ (Developed India 2047). As part of this initiative, a pilot project involving 10,000 participants has been launched to collect health data and genetic information to build a foundation for precision medicine in India.

At a press briefing, CSIR representatives stated that this national initiative will integrate digital health platforms, genomics, and artificial intelligence to deliver more accurate, predictive, and citizen-centric healthcare solutions.

Eminent participants at the workshop will include the Director of CSIR-IGIB, the Director of the Phenome India Project, and other senior scientists and health technology experts. The discussions are expected to pave the way for a new era in personalised healthcare and biomedical innovation.
