In a tragic incident that has left an entire community in shock, a Class X student of Sri Aurobindo Integral Education Centre at Khallikote in Odisha’s Ganjam district died unexpectedly on Sunday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Mihir Pradhan, son of Santosh Pradhan of Bagalpur village under Khallikote police limits. Mihir had been residing in the school hostel while pursuing his studies in Class X at the institution.

According to preliminary reports, Mihir suddenly fell unconscious inside the hostel premises early in the morning. Fellow students and hostel authorities immediately rushed to his aid and shifted him to the Khallikote Community Health Centre for emergency medical treatment. However, doctors at the hospital declared him dead on arrival.

The sudden demise of the young student triggered scenes of grief at the hospital as family members and relatives rushed there upon receiving the heartbreaking news. His classmates and teachers were also left stunned by the unexpected turn of events.

On being informed, Khallikote police reached the hospital and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of death. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and further details are awaited. Meanwhile, the local MLA and the Tehsildar visited the spot and took stock of the situation.

The untimely death has cast a pall of gloom over Khallikote and Mihir’s native village, with residents mourning the loss of a young life gone too soon.
