A Class 7 student died after collapsing on his way to school in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Saturday morning, triggering concern among residents of the area.

The incident occurred at Nimakhandi Pentha under Digapahandi block, where the student was found lying unconscious on the roadside before reaching his school. The deceased has been identified as Akash Goud, a Class 7 student of Radhamohan Vidyapitha.

Student Was Unwell

According to sources, Akash had left home in the morning to attend school when he suddenly collapsed on the road for reasons yet to be officially ascertained. Local residents noticed him lying on the roadside and immediately informed his family. With the help of locals, the student was rushed to a nearby medical facility, where doctors declared him dead.

Sources said the student had been unwell for the past two to three days and was reportedly suffering from fever. Family members said his condition had shown signs of improvement, following which he was asked to attend classes. However, he collapsed before reaching the school premises.

Locals Seek Support for Family

The incident has left the local community in shock. Residents expressed concern over the family’s financial condition and demanded compensation for the bereaved family. They also called for a thorough assessment by the health department to determine the cause of the student’s illness and the circumstances leading to his death.

Meanwhile, no official statement was available from the attending doctors at the time of filing this report regarding whether the student was brought dead to the hospital or died during treatment.
