Choudwar jailbreak: Odisha Police nab absconding prisoner, hunt continues for another

In a major breakthrough, Odisha Police on Saturday arrested one of the two inmates who had managed to escape from the Choudwar Jail in Cuttack district. The accused was apprehended from the Vrindavan Math area following sustained efforts by law enforcement agencies.

According to official sources, the two prisoners had managed to flee from the high-security Choudwar Circle Jail during the Dussehra festivities, triggering widespread concern and a massive manhunt. Taking advantage of the absence of a warder on duty, the duo allegedly cut through the bars of their cell and escaped from the facility.

Following the jailbreak, police launched an extensive search operation across multiple districts. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a special team tracked the movements of one of the absconding inmates and successfully apprehended him from Vrindavan Math. Senior officials confirmed the development, stating that surveillance and ground-level tracking played a crucial role in the arrest.

The Director General of Police (DGP) informed that coordinated efforts are continuing to nab the second fugitive. Combing operations have been intensified at various suspected hideouts, and security measures have been tightened to prevent any further such incidents.

Police officials reiterated their commitment to ensuring that the remaining absconder is brought to justice at the earliest.
