According to the family, the child, who remained unresponsive for several months, recently started moving his hands and legs.

Prakash Bhoi brought his son Nikhil, who was in a coma for a year, to the temple and laid him on the ground near Baishi Pahacha after seeking blessings at the feet of Lord Jagannath on November 8.

The family claimed that the child showed slight physical response shortly after the visit. Following this, Bhoi travelled to Puri again, placing the boy in the same location near the temple in an act of surrender.

Father Expresses Hope

Speaking about his son’s condition, Prakash Bhoi said, “My son developed a fever a year ago and after that he went into a coma. I brought him to Puri Jagannath Temple and I witnessed what I consider a miracle, as he moved his leg. I have come here again because I have full faith that Lord Jagannath will heal him completely.”

He added that he was willing to shift his child to a hospital if the government arranged treatment for him.

He stated that the recent improvement has strengthened his belief and he intends to continue seeking blessings until his son recovers.

Sevayat Recounts Moment

An elderly sevayat, who witnessed the father’s earlier visit, recalled the emotional moment. “I cannot describe it in words. That day, when this man came with his child, he was crying and pleading for his son’s well-being. We told him that Lord Jagannath answers every prayer when offered with honesty and devotion, and his child has shown improvement. I hope he will recover fully,” the sevayat said.

A devotee present outside the temple said, "The father has complete faith in Lord Jagannath, but the child should be treated at a hospital. If the government supports the treatment, it would truly help the family."

Another devotee said, "I request the Odisha Chief Minister to look into the matter and ensure treatment for the child. If he recovers, it will strengthen the faith of devotees in Lord Jagannath and bring pride to Odisha."
