Century Plyboards eyes Odisha for new manufacturing unit

Kolkata-based interior infrastructure materials manufacturer Century Plyboards (India) Pvt Ltd is exploring Odisha as a potential location for setting up a new manufacturing unit, reflecting growing investor confidence in the state’s industrial ecosystem.

The proposed facility is expected to strengthen the company’s footprint in eastern India, which has emerged as one of its key markets in recent years.

Meeting With Odisha Chief Minister

The development follows a recent meeting between Century Plyboards Executive Director Keshav Bhajanka and Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in Kolkata. The Chief Minister was in the city earlier this month as part of the state government’s investment outreach initiatives. Senior executives and managing directors of the company were also present during the interaction.

Sharing details of the meeting, Bhajanka said discussions focused on the future growth of the wood panel industry and Odisha’s rising importance as a manufacturing hub. He described the interaction as productive and noted that the state offers significant potential for industrial expansion. In a post on social media, he said the meeting highlighted Odisha’s growing role in the manufacturing sector.

Eastern India continues to be a major growth driver for Century Plyboards, prompting the company to evaluate further investments in the region. If finalised, the proposed unit in Odisha is expected to enhance supply chain efficiency and help meet rising market demand more effectively.

Century Plyboards currently operates modern manufacturing facilities across several locations in India, including Chennai, Kandla, Karnal, Guwahati, Joka, Badvel, Roorkee and Hoshiarpur.
