Celebrating tribal heritage: OTV Cares donates Rs 2.5L to support Santali cultural preservation

In a significant step toward safeguarding Odisha’s tribal heritage, OTV Cares, the CSR wing of Odisha Television Ltd., has contributed Rs 2.5 lakh for the promotion and preservation of the rich cultural traditions of the indigenous Santali tribe. 

The funds were utilised for the construction of a new Puja Gate at the Santali community centre ground in Patia, Bhubaneswar, which was formally inaugurated today.

The newly-built Puja Gate holds deep cultural and spiritual importance for the Santali community, serving not only as an entryway but also as a symbol of identity, unity, and tradition. Representatives from OTV Cares said that the organisation believes charity must begin at home and emphasised its moral responsibility to support indigenous communities that embody the cultural soul of the state.

The inauguration ceremony was celebrated with enthusiasm and featured traditional Santali music, dance, and ritual performances, showcasing the vibrancy and richness of the tribe’s cultural legacy. Community elders, cultural custodians, and OTV Cares representatives participated in the programme, highlighting themes of harmony, heritage, and collective development.

With this initiative, OTV Cares has once again reaffirmed its commitment to community development, cultural preservation, and inclusive growth across Odisha. The organisation stated that protecting tribal traditions is essential, as these communities have safeguarded their unique heritage for generations, contributing significantly to Odisha’s cultural diversity.
