A crude bomb attack near Kendriya Vidyalaya-3 in the Gadakana area triggered panic in the state capital on Friday morning, prompting the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to begin a high-level inquiry into the incident.
According to sources, a three-member team of the NIA visited the spot and returned after investigation.
The crude bombs were hurled near Gate No. 3 of the school around 8 AM by unidentified bike-borne miscreants, sources said, adding that, though no injuries were reported, the explosion caused damage to the school gate and a portion of the boundary wall.
Immediately after the incident, teams from Mancheswar Police and the Railway Police Force (RPF) rushed to the spot. Police sources said a scientific team has begun analyzing samples and CCTV footage from the area to trace the perpetrators.
Locals suspect the attack may have been pre-planned, requiring further investigation into possible larger links.
Commenting on the matter, Biswa Ranjan Senapati, ACP said, “We are examining the CCTV footage to determine whether it is a bombing or the bomb accidentally exploded while being carried by the miscreants. Our scientific team is investigating if it is a cracker or a bomb.”
