Naveen hopeful of ‘large’ foreign investments in Odisha

New Delhi: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday said that he is hopeful of a sizeable investment in the State from foreign countries.

The CM’s statement followed after he met ambassadors of at least 20 countries here and invited them to attend the Make In Odisha Conclave scheduled to be held in the State from November 30 to December 02.

“We invited them to attend the Odisha Conclave. We are certainly hopeful that a sizable investment would be done in our State. Several ambassadors have agreed to attend the meet,” Patnaik told reporters after the meeting.

External Affairs minister Sushma Swaraj inaugurated the meeting held at Jawahar Bhawan.

Odisha has prepared a shelf of over 125 projects which it will showcase at the upcoming extravaganza planned in collaboration with the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP). The conclave would showcase the policy and regulatory environment, investment opportunities across focus sectors and manufacturing prowess of the state.

It is learnt that the Odisha government has lined up sector specific policy launches prior to the conclave aimed at attracting investments to the State.

In the run-up to the big event, the State government has also planned to conduct road shows in Kolkata, Hyderabad and Pune on October 25-27. A roadshow is also proposed to be held in Delhi in the first week of November with an aim to interact with potential investors.
