The body of a man was recovered from a pond in Bolangir district of Odisha on Friday, with police suspecting foul play. The incident was reported from Bhalumunda village under Bangomunda police station limits.

The deceased has been identified as Kesari Bagh, a resident of Turekela village. According to local sources, Kesari had been missing since Thursday, raising concern among his family members. His body was later found floating in a village pond on Friday morning.

Police officials said visible injury marks were found on the body, suggesting that Kesari may have been assaulted before his death. Preliminary observations revealed bruises on his back, strengthening suspicions that he was murdered and the body subsequently dumped in the pond to destroy evidence.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community and created tension in the area.

On receiving information, Bangomunda police rushed to the spot and launched an investigation. The body was sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death. Police said further details would emerge after receiving the autopsy and forensic reports.
