Bhubaneswar: After Biju Janata Dal's support to NDA-backed JD(U) candidate Harivansh Narayan Singh helped the MP comfortably bag the Rajya Sabha deputy chairperson's post, OPCC Chief Niranjan Patnaik slammed both the parties while claiming that the BJP has not just betrayed the people of Odisha, but also its own cadres.
For Niranjan, the equi-distant policy of the BJD with BJP has now turned into an internal understanding and an informal alliance seems imminent between the two parties.
As per reports, soon after the BJD openly announced its support for Harivansh, OPCC president Niranjan Patnaik blamed that the BJD supported the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate in fear of a CBI inquiry into the chit fund scams.
Criticising the move of the BJD, the OPCC Chief stated, "The games of BJD & BJP have been totally exposed. Sad that BJD has chosen to ally with BJP, a party which has betrayed Odisha on every front, be it Mahanadi, land encroachment, duping people of Rourkela or insulting Muktikanta Biswal."

Niranjan went on to say that the BJP has not only been unfaithful to the people of Odisha but also betrayed its own party members, thereby calling Mission 120 as Mission 420. "For the BJP, it hasn't just betrayed the people of Odisha, but also its own cadres. BJP’s Mission 120 has turned into Mission 420 for the people of Odisha and BJP members,' he tweeted.

In a series of tweets yesterday, he also urged Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Jual Oram and former Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda to join the Congress if they want to serve the people justifying that his party is the only Opposition in Odisha.

Reiterating the fact that both BJP and the BJD have deceived the people of Odisha, the OPCC chief maintained that even Jay Panda doesn't deny it. He tweeted back to Jay, "You may love it or hate it, @PandaJay ji, but the fact remains: integrity, honesty & commitment towards people of Odisha - that's where my chutzpah comes from. The BJP & BJD have deceived people of Odisha for a long time and even you don't deny it."
