Bhubaneswar: Contrary to the recent statements of Union Minister Jual Oram that Dharmendra Pradhan will be the party’s CM face in the 2019 elections in Odisha, senior BJP leader Pratap Sarangi today asserted that the decision will be taken only by party’s parliamentary board. Terming Oram’s statements as his ‘personal’, Sarangi stated that, “Nobody has told me and I am also not aware that the party has finalised its CM’s candidate. It could be Oram’s personal views.”

Sarangi further stated that there are several leaders in Odisha BJP and the top leadership including PM Narendra Modi and national president Amit Shah will take a final call.

“Unlike BJD, there is no dearth of leaders in BJP who can be CM candidate and the final decision will be taken by the top brass,” Sarangi added.

It is pertinent to mention here that Union Minister, Jual Oram had stirred the hornet’s nest by claiming that Dharmendra Pradhan would be party’s CM candidate in the upcoming 2019 elections. Such statements came on the backdrop of former IAS Aparajita Sarangi joining the saffron party.

“Dharmendra Pradhan will be our CM candidate and there is nothing to doubt about it. Putting an end to the Tamilian rule in Odisha by ousting the Naveen Patnaik-government is necessary in the very interest of the State and its people,” Jual had told reporters on November 27.
