BJP legislators on Thursday urged CM Mohan Majhi to reconsider the recent hike in MLAs’ salaries, citing public sentiment and the need to respect people’s opinion. The issue was raised during the BJP Legislature Party meeting, where the MLAs formally conveyed their views to the Chief Minister and sought a review of the decision.

The BJP Legislature Party meeting was held at the party’s state headquarters and attended by Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, and State BJP President Manmohan Samal. All ministers and party MLAs were also present at the meeting.

“We had a detailed discussion on the proposed salary hike & allowances of the current and former lawmakers in the House. Showing due respect to the sentiments of the people, all the lawmakers of the BJP have requested CM Mohan Majhi to reconsider the decision,” informed Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling.

Sources said the meeting was focused on multiple key issues, including the party’s organisational strength and future political strategy. The legislators discussed ways to strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level and improve coordination between the government and the party structure.

Meanwhile, with the Chief Minister having recently returned from a visit to New Delhi, discussions also focused on effectively implementing central government programmes at the grassroots level.
