BJP leader Pitabas Panda murder case: Charge sheet to be filed today

In a major update in BJP leader and senior lawyer Pitabas Panda murder case, the police is scheduled to file the charge sheet on Sunday, despite today being a holiday. Official sources said the charge sheet would be submitted before the court today and would run into more than 30,000 pages, reflecting the scale and complexity of the investigation.

Pitabas Panda was murdered on October 6, 2025. So far, 16 persons, including former BJD MLA Bikram Panda, has been arrested in connection in this connection. Investigators said the filing of the chargesheet will mark a crucial stage in the probe, paving the way for the commencement of trial proceedings.

Progress In The Investigation

Police officials said the investigation covered multiple angles, including the sequence of events leading to the killing, the alleged conspiracy, and the role of each accused. Statements of witnesses, forensic evidence, call detail records and other technical inputs were examined and compiled as part of the charge sheet.

The charge sheet was prepared after months of sustained investigation involving several teams.

Earlier, a Test Identification (TI) parade of all 16 accused arrested earlier for their alleged involvement in the murder of Pitabas Panda was carried out inside the Berhampur Circle Jail following the directions of the SDJM Court.
