BJP leader Pitabas Panda murder: Berhampur police picks up local politician

In a significant development in the investigation of the murder case of BJP leader and senior lawyer Pitabas Panda in Berhampur, police have picked up a local politician on Sunday.

As per sources, the politician in question has had several cases registered against them in the past. However, the police have not yet clarified what connection, if any, this politician has to the murder case.

Earlier in the case, the Berhampur police had also interrogated a Corporator, and currently, along with the Corporator and a student leader, a total of eight people are being scanned as part of the investigation by the police.

On the night of October 6, Pitabas Panda was shot dead on point blank near his house by miscreants who fled immediately after the heinous act.

There is suspicion that the murder was carried out by supari killer who was highly trained in firearms. There had been discussions that the police had picked up a sharp shooter from Bihar along with two others in connection with the case.

However, it has still not become clear even after two weeks who had conspired to have killed Panda. So far, the police have not been able to arrest anyone in connection with this murder.

The murder has sent shockwaves through the region, with local authorities and political leaders expressing concern over the incident. As the investigation continues, the community remains on edge, awaiting further updates from the authorities.
