Biju Janata Dal leaders once again came together under the banner of a ‘Friends Meet’, with several former ministers and MLAs participating in the event held in Bhadrak district. The gathering took place at Kantipur Jhaunban in Kumar Panchayat of the Basudevpur Assembly constituency on Sunday.
Chaired by Bishnubrata Routray
The meeting was chaired by former Basudevpur MLA Bishnubrata Routray and saw the presence of a host of senior leaders from different regions of the state. Their participation drew attention, making the event politically significant.

Former MLAs in Attendance
Among those present were former Balasore MLA Swaroop Das, former Paradip MLA Sambit Routray, former Nilgiri MLA Sukanta Nayak, former Pipili MLA Rudrapratap Maharathy, former Simulia MLA Jyotiprakash Panigrahi and former Rajnagar MLA Anshuman Mohanty. Former minister Chandrasarathi Behera and former MLAs Pranab Balabantaray and Raju Das were also part of the gathering.
Renewing Bonds
The meet highlighted continued interaction among senior BJD leaders, underlining efforts to maintain connections and camaraderie within the party ranks.
Worth mentioning, the BJD leaders had also earlier come together on the auspicious occasion of New Year’s Eve. They were spotted together partying at a resort near Sikharchandi area. Since then there have been reports of the leaders, sketching plans to bring back the party back to form in Odisha’s political landscape.
