BJD declares Santrupt Misra and Dr. Datteswar Hota as Rajya Sabha candidates

The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Saturday officially announced its two candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.

BJD President and former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik declared that Santrupt Misra and Dr. Datteswar Hota will represent the party in the upper house of Parliament.

BJD Candidates Finalised

Santrupt Misra, a senior BJD leader from Cuttack, had previously contested for a parliamentary seat and is now set to represent the party in the Rajya Sabha. Dr. Datteswar Hota, a distinguished urologist, has also been nominated, reflecting the party’s choice to bring both political experience and professional expertise to the national legislature.

“I appeal to all parties to support Dr. Hota and send him to the Rajya Sabha,” said BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik. He further expressed his optimism and said that he was hopeful for a positive outcome.

Santrupta Mishra and Dr. Hota in Focus

Santrupt Misra has been an active BJD leader for years and is considered a key strategist in the party’s organisational structure. This time, he will contest for the Rajya Sabha from Cuttack, adding his voice to the party’s representation at the national level. Dr. Datteswar Hota, known for his contributions to the medical field, particularly in urology, will also take a seat in the upper house, marking a notable entry of a medical professional into parliamentary affairs.

The announcement concludes several days of deliberations within the BJD, during which party leaders and opposition leader Naveen Patnaik consulted extensively on potential candidates. With the official declaration of Santrupt Misra and Dr. Datteswar Hota as the party nominees, the BJD now moves forward confidently in the Rajya Sabha elections.
