Veteran leader Bijoy Mohapatra on Friday suggested that there could be a conspiracy behind the suspension of his son, Arvind Mohapatra, from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
Reacting strongly to the development, Mohapatra questioned the grounds on which the action was taken.
Arvind has been suspended on charges of betrayal, but Mohapatra said it is for the people to judge who has actually betrayed. He alleged that conspiracy could be behind the decision to suspend his son.
Responding to questions on whether Arvind was targeted because of him, Mohapatra asserted that he has committed no wrongdoing. He questioned that if the father had done nothing wrong, then why was action taken against the son?

"They (BJD) have made claims about betrayal and corruption. To the best of my knowledge, nothing of that sort has happened. If they have any facts to support their allegations, they should present them. Even the people are not aware of any such issue. The people of Odisha are waiting to know the truth. Those who claim to have intelligence inputs should clarify the matter. An intelligence report cannot reach the Opposition party; such reports are meant for the Chief Minister, Mohan Majhi. I was surprised when I heard the news. I was attending a programme at the time and came to know about it there. I do not know whose conspiracy is behind this," said Bijoy Mohapatra.
No comments were received from the BJD in this regard.
