In a shocking incident late Wednesday night, a car belonging to an officer of Nayapalli Police Station in Bhubaneswar lost control and crashed into a roadside shop near the CBI Chowk area.

According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle mounted the footpath before smashing into the storefront, causing damage to the shop and alarming local residents. Luckily, no one was present at the shop, averting a major tragedy.

Sources have revealed that the Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Nayapalli Police Station was not present in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Locals and witnesses allege that the driver was under the influence of alcohol, which led to the reckless driving and subsequent collision.

The accident caused considerable unrest at the spot, with residents expressing anger and concern over the irresponsible behaviour of the driver, who was reportedly driving the police officer’s car. Many fear that such incidents not only endanger public safety but also tarnish the image of the police department.

Attempts to obtain an official statement or response from the IIC or other senior officers of Nayapalli Police Station have so far been unsuccessful.
Authorities have yet to confirm whether the driver will face disciplinary action following the incident.
