An Air India Express flight travelling from Bengaluru to Guwahati made an emergency landing at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar on Thursday after a passenger on board suddenly fell ill.
According to airport officials, the flight carrying 174 passengers was forced to divert after a male passenger complained of severe chest pain mid-air. The pilot immediately contacted BPIA’s Air Traffic Control (ATC), requesting permission for an emergency landing.
Swift Medical Response at BPIA
The aircraft safely landed at 4:53 PM, and medical personnel stationed at the airport quickly boarded the plane to attend to the passenger. The individual was promptly stabilised by the airport’s medical team before being transferred to Capital Hospital for further treatment.

Flight Resumes Journey to Guwahati
After ensuring the passenger received necessary medical care, the aircraft underwent a quick inspection and was cleared for departure. The flight resumed its journey to Guwahati at 5:15 PM, an airport spokesperson confirmed.
