Baripada-bound bus crashes with truck in Cuttack’s Choudwar Photograph: (OTV)
A bus collided with a truck from behind at Kajalakhana Square under Choudwar police limits in Cuttack on Friday.
According to reports, the accident occurred when a bus named Nilamadhab, travelling from Narsinghpur to Baripada, rammed into the truck from the rear.
No passengers on board
In a major relief, there were no passengers on board the bus at the time of the accident, and no serious injuries or fatalities were reported.
Speaking about the incident, truck driver Nabaghana Swain said, “I had left for Jajpur around 3.30 am when a bus rammed into his truck from the rear. He said the impact caused extensive damage to the vehicle, bending the chassis, breaking several rods, and resulting in the loss of nearly 100 to 150 bags of cement.”
Meanwhile, bus driver Haribol Mahanta claimed that the collision occurred while he was attempting to overtake the truck. “The accident occurred around 3:30 am when I was attempting to overtake the truck. The bus was empty and was travelling to Baripada,” he said.
Police Begin Probe into Incident
Choudwar Police rushed to the spot soon after the accident, secured the area, and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact sequence of events that led to the collision. As part of the probe, both the bus and the truck have been seized for further examination.
