Puri: Members of the ASI (Archaeological Survey of India) on Monday inspected the Garbhagriha (Sanctum Sanctorum) in Puri Srimandir during which chemical cleaning, checking of the steel crosses and colouring of the ‘Kanakamundi’ were carried out.

While steps were taken to improve the ventilating system inside the Sanctum Sanctorum, the black patches on the inside were cleaned. Apart from that a machine has been installed at the ‘Jagamohan’ for circulation of cold air and another machine has been installed to balance the loading system of the portal box frame, informed sources.

Similarly, the black granites of the 'Garuda Stambha' have been removed and the repairing work of the roof next to the kitchen and Bhogamandap has been done, informed the officials.

“Three steel beams have been installed at Jay Vijay Dwar. Filing work of the Dwar has also been completed. Next we are planning to start the repair work of the Natamandap and Ratnabhandar phasically," Orissa High court appointed amicus curiae engineer N K Mohanty said.
