In an armed robbery incident, a trader was looted at gunpoint by a miscreant in Cuttack on Thursday.

As per reports, the robbery took place at a brass utensil shop located at Jaunlia Patti area. The accused carried out blank firing to create panic and fled with cash from the shop.

The incident occurred around 8 am when a miscreant arrived at the shop on a scooter. The accused allegedly threatened the shop owner with a firearm, fired blank shots to intimidate him, and looted cash before fleeing from the spot.

Following the incident, the shop owner, identified as trader Upendra Maharana, lodged a complaint at the Purighat police station. 

Police have registered a case and are investigating the matter. All the CCTV cameras installed in the area are being examined.

Further details are awaited as the probe continues.

"The incident took place between 8:00 am and 8:30 am. My father owns a brass utensil shop. When he opened the shop this morning, a person wearing a black jacket arrived on an Activa scooter and entered the shop posing as a normal customer. Suddenly, he pulled out a revolver," said Ayush Moharana, son of the trader.
