Cuttack: The people in the millennium city are now on cloud nine as they will get an opportunity to witness AR Rahman performing live on stage at a concert to be held at Barabati Stadium on November 28 as a part of the Men’s Hockey World Cup celebrations.

Anticipating a heavy footfall of fans as well as music lovers, the Commissionerate Police and the district administration are leaving no stone upturned for organising the event successfully.

As AR Rahman’s mega programme will be coinciding with the historic Bali Yatra, the Commissionerate Police will face a tough challenge in making necessary arrangements including security as well as traffic management.

Senior officials of Commissionerate Police including Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty, Cuttack DCP Akhilesvar Singh and Cuttack Collector reviewed the arrangements at Barabati Stadium today.

“Today, we had inspected the stadium and we are planning to make arrangements keeping in view the capacity for nearly 30,000 fans. Our focus will be on security, crowd management and parking facilities,” said Mohanty.

Mohanty further informed that a new parking space is being created near Chahata for fans coming from Bhubaneswar side.

Cuttack Collector Aravind Agarwal informed that all possible steps are being taken to organise the event smoothly.

It is pertinent to mention here that Rahman has composed the official anthem for the men’s Hockey World Cup which has been penned by lyricist Gulzar.

Sources said both Rahman and Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan will also be seen during the opening ceremony of the Hockey World Cup at Kalinga Stadium.
