Cuttack: Two minor boys, who had sustained critical burn injuries along with their mother in a fire mishap in their house at Sabalbhanga village in Angul on November 18, died while undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital today.

The deceased identified as Rahul (6) and Abhimanyu (2) were admitted to SCBMCH in a critical condition yesterday while their mother Bachan Behera is still battling for life, informed sources.

As per reports, Bachan's brother has lodged a complaint at Angul police station alleging that his sister was tortured physically and mentally by her in-laws. He further alleged Pabitra Behera (Bachan's husband) and Bhawani Behera (Bachan's mother-in-law) had attempted to kill Bachan and her children.

Basing on the complaint, Angul police has registered a case and started investigation into the incident.

"Our officer has reached SCB to record dying declaration of the victim and further investigation is underway" informed Angul SDPO (Sub-Divisional Police Officer) Harihar Pani.

On the other hand, Bhawani alleged that today Bachan attempted suicide as she was upset after being allegedly humiliated by tuition sir for not paying the fees of her children.

Earlier, Bachan Behera along with her two minor sons, Rahul and Abhimanyu sustained severe burn injuries after their house caught fire under mysterious circumstances on Sunday. All the three family members were subsequently shifted to SCBMCH after preliminary treatment at District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).

Though the exact reason behind the fire is still unclear, Pabitra Behera had alleged that the trio attempted suicide. However, Bachan in her statement to the doctors reportedly said that three unidentified persons tried to kill her.
