Police personnel also reached the location after receiving information and assisted in securing the area. All workers inside the storage facility were immediately evacuated as a precautionary measure.

Although the odour subsided in the surrounding locality after repairs were completed, it remained strong inside the storage premises, and entry was restricted.

Advisory Issued For Residents

Police and fire officials advised residents in the vicinity to keep their doors and windows shut, as the gas caused breathing difficulties and eye irritation. Authorities also made announcements in the locality urging people to wear masks while passing through the area and to avoid gathering near the site.

A local resident said, “It was around 12:45 am when we witnessed a fire. When the Fire Department reached and sprayed water, the fire could not be controlled. More fire brigades were deployed, about 25 to 30. The Police SP also reached the scene and assisted in evacuating people from the area. He had come earlier in the day as well to inspect the situation.”
