Tension prevailed in Bhubaneswar after a cyclist was critically injured in a road accident involving an ‘Ama Bus’ near the Palaspalli overbridge on Monday.
According to reports, the incident occurred beneath the Palaspalli flyover when the Ama Bus allegedly hit an elderly cyclist passing through the area. The impact of the collision left the cyclist severely injured. He was immediately rescued by locals and rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. His condition is reported to be serious.
Following the accident, irate locals gathered at the spot and vandalised the bus, smashing its window panes in anger. They demanded compensation for the injured person.
Local police rushed to the spot immediately and attempted to pacify the agitated crowd to bring the situation under control. However, despite their efforts, some protesters allegedly pelted stones at the vehicle in the presence of the police.
