Ama Bus accident in Bhubaneswar: CRUT announces ex-gratia Photograph: (OTV)
In a significant development, Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) on Saturday issued a response regarding the Ama Bus accident in the capital city.
The bus operating agency has announced an ex-gratia assistance of Rs 2 lakh for the family of the deceased. On the other hand, injured passengers will be provided compensation of Rs 50,000 each.
CRUT has also assured that compensation to the deceased auto-rickshaw driver will be paid as per legal provisions. CRUT also stated that necessary preventive measures will be taken in the future to avoid such accidents.
"CRUT expresses its deep condolences to the bereaved family and reiterates its commitment to extending all possible support. The organisation assures that necessary corrective and preventive measures are being reviewed and will be strengthened to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in future," read a notification issued by CRUT.

"In accordance with the CRUT Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), an amount of Rs. 2, 00,000 will be provided as immediate relief to the family of the deceased, and the injured victim shall be compensated Rs 50,000," the notification further read.
"Along with the above immediate support, CRUT officials are also in touch with other concerned Government departments to further facilitate compensation to the next of kin of the deceased auto rickshaw driver," it added.
