In a disturbing incident, AI-generated photos and videos of Lord Jagannath are going viral on social media, triggering widespread outrage among the devotees in Odisha.
As per reports, one such video shows milk being poured over Lord Jagannath in front of Puri Srimandir using a crane, which is an entirely unrealistic and fabricated depiction with no basis in tradition.
These fake visuals, created using artificial intelligence, are being widely circulated online, hurting the religious sentiments of millions of devotees of Lord Jagannath. Devotees have expressed deep anguish over the spread of such misleading and insensitive content.

Earlier too, incidents involving the circulation of photos and videos from inside the Srimandir, as well as unauthorised camera entry into the temple premises, had sparked controversy. Now, the emergence of these absurd and false visuals on social media has once again left devotees of the Lord deeply hurt and disturbed.
"The video has definitely hurt the sentiments of the devotees. Lord Jagannath is the Lord of the universe. Depicting the Lord like this is unacceptable. Stern action should be taken against it," said a devotee in Puri.
"We are deeply hurt over the development. These kinds of things should not be done involving the Lord of the Universe," rued another devotee.
