Security was tightened at court premises in Cuttack after bomb threats was received through emails, prompting immediate evacuation and search operations by police and security agencies.

In Cuttack, the District Judge’s Court was evacuated soon after an email threatening to blow up the premises was received. Police, along with bomb disposal and dog squads, launched a thorough search of the court complex as a precautionary measure. Entry and movement within the premises were restricted during the operation.

Earlier in the day, a similar bomb threat email was received at the Sambalpur court, triggering a high alert. The court premises in Sambalpur were placed under heavy security cover, with police and anti-bomb squads conducting intensive searches across the complex.

No explosive materials had been detected at either location till the filing of this report. Police have initiated an investigation to trace the source of the emails and are examining whether the threats are linked.

Authorities said all necessary security protocols were being followed and urged the public to remain calm as precautionary measures continue.

Public Advised Not To Panic

"An anonymous e-mail containing a threat to damage court premises has been received at several courts. The police have taken cognizance of the matter and initiated a thorough investigation. As a precautionary measure, police checking and enhanced security arrangements have been put in place at all concerned locations. The situation is under close monitoring," the DGP office said in a press note.

"The public is advised not to panic and to cooperate with the police in maintaining security and assisting the investigation," it read further.

CM Orders Probe

Soon after the incident, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi spoke to DGP YB Khurania, Chief Secretary Anu Garg and other senior officials before ordering an investigation into the matter.
