Cuttack: Not just onion, potato prices have seen a considerable spike adding to the woes of consumers across Odisha. As per reports, prices of potato have seen an increase of Rs 10 per kg in the past couple of days. At present, the consumers are paying to the tune of Rs 30 for one kg potato.

“Potato is essential. Besides, it is the favourite vegetable not only of kids but also adults love it as well,” said Karishma, a homemaker.

Not only Karishma, several other homemakers are now worried over the steep rise in the prices of potato. Devendra Sahoo, secretary of Chhatra Bazar traders’ association in Cuttack attributed the potato price rise to the fluctuation in prices in West Bengal which is the prime source of potato procurement for Odisha.

Sahoo further stated that the situation is likely to improve after the local production hits the market in the next 15 to 20 days.
